///

A nomination already obtained by Brunswick Corporation in the previous two years, which is reconfirmed for the third consecutive year in the list of the ‘World’s Best Employers’.

Once again this year, Brunswick Corporation has made its way among the thousands of companies that Forbes, the US business publication, observes around the world by ranking in the top 15% of all organizations.

With success after success, Brunswick continues to move forward in the boating world, bringing prestige to the entire category by breaking down many cultural and social barriers that allow the company to be one of the best in the world for: opportunity, career, diversity, equality and social commitment.

Fratelli Razeto & Casareto: a special monograph to tell a story uniting family and company.

/////

The ‘Razeto & Casareto’ book is a unique work, where 100 years of company and family history are collected.

The ‘Razeto & Casareto’ book is a unique work, where 100 years of company and family history are collected.

A beautiful celebration for the Fratelli Razeto & Casareto company which, for its 100th anniversary, has published a company history monograph collecting the anecdotes and the intertwining of the families and the company. Since 1920, the F.lli Razeto & Casareto company has been producing complements and accessories for shipbuilding, first for Genoese shipyards and transatlantic liners, now for the whole range of recreational boats, for big brands and for modern cruise ships.
Fratelli-Razeto-Casareto-bookPresented at the 62nd International Boat Show in Genoa by
Andrea Razeto, Vice President of Confindustria Nautica, and his brother Gian Giacomo Razeto, head of the company’s Design and Innovation sectors, the book immediately stands out as a product that marks a new starting point for the company, as Sabrina Burlando, the author of the book, also states:

The historical monograph is both a cultural and marketing product, which recounts through photographs, images and texts the company’s heritage, consisting of values, professionalism and human capital”.

‘On Board with you since 1920’, this is the title of the book, retraces the company’s steps backwards in a sort of cinematographic flashback, going through the great epochal changes that have taken place in Italy in one hundred years of history. Texts and images recompose the logical and chronological thread from today, to the company’s birth in 1920 in Sori, on the Eastern Ligurian Riviera. The first handles, locks and coat hooks for Genoese ships began to be produced in a small premises, and as time went by, the company increased both its workload and the expansion of the factory where all the brassware to be supplied to the various boats in the area and beyond was produced, expanding its borders abroad as early as the 1930s. Today, F.lli Razeto & Casareto is one of the leading companies in the marine accessories sector. Thanks to the quality and originality of its products, it has conquered all continents and has a 50% turnover with the foreign market.

In the book, the tale begins boat handleswith the new ‘CentEsiMo’ antimicrobial handle, the latest innovative product derived from an ancient mould that was fitted in the finest Italian seafaring vessels and kept under lock and key in the historical models, from which all the family and corporate events that have crossed over time will be traced. The story is told over decades and is associated with various focuses that will provide previously unpublished details on the workings, machinery, products and company philosophy from 1920 to the present day. A ribbon of memories that rewinds history in reverse and allows us to fully understand the passion and dedication that drove these three young men in the 1920s to melt metals and create products of absolute quality that still today, more than ever, are leaders in the sector on an international level. Although well rooted in the local area, the company is global in character, which is why the book has been published in both Italian and English.

A history that has been handed down for three generations and that has found in the people at the helm the ability to renew themselves according to social and economic changes over time. This has led the company not to lose its value but, on the contrary, to acquire more and more, thanks to its roots, as the author herself states:

The value of the company is also a value for the territory where the company resides. We have made a book that in communication jargon is called ‘heritage marketing’, that is precisely the marketing of heritage. It speaks of the new, not of a memory, of the present and the future through the story of the company’s historical roots”.

Record-breaking numbers for the Genoa Boat Show, positive results for the entire sector.

////

The just-concluded Genoa International Boat Show draws the conclusions of a record-breaking edition, characterized by truly amazing results. The Ligurian event, held from 22 to 27 September, saw attendance figures grow by 10.7% compared to 2021, totalling no less than 103,812 visitors.

The event, organized by Confindustria Nautica (the Italian Marine Industry Association) and I Saloni Nautici succeeded in capitalising on the great work carried out by the category’s association over the last few years.

This has been not only an incredible Boat Show, but above all an efficient one: in an exceptional moment for the yachting industry, having grown by 31.1%, with a turnover of € 6.1 billion and a workforce growing by 9.7%, visitors have increased by 10.7% since last year to an impressive 103,812, and all contracts have been closed,” says Saverio Cecchi, President of the Italian Marine Industry Association and I Saloni Nautici – The merit goes to the great teamwork, because this is what we are together with the whole Confindustria Nautica, I Saloni Nautici, the Liguria Region, Genoa City Council, and Genoa Chamber of Commerce. A team that as of tomorrow will plan the 2023 Boat Show, scheduled from 21 to 26 September next year, and which does not just need to be good, but to be the best”.

Having more and more visitors is not the only goal, however, because Genoa is working to offer the ultimate visitor experience, which in 2024 will be able to enjoy all the exhibition areas, including the Eastern Waterfront , which will also be the final stage of the Ocean Race in June 2023.

genoa boat show 2022
genoa boat show 2022

” The results have exceeded all expectations and, in addition to the success achieved in terms of the public and businesses, the city has been able to open up and function as a place of high-quality hospitality and entertainment – comments Marco Bucci, the Mayor of Genoa –The next step will be in June 2023 when, on the new Eastern Waterfront which is currently taking shape, Genoa will be the final stage of The Ocean Race. This is a sport in which there is always a finish line: for us, the one shared with the Italian Marine Industry Association and the Saloni Nautici will be the new ten-year agreement starting in 2024, which will include all new exhibition areas”.

The President of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, also expressed his pride in the event and the future goals of the city of Genoa:

” What makes me proud today is not only the number of visitors who came to enjoy the Genoa Boat Show but the rate of growth recorded for employment throughout the entire industry. This is an economy that works, an economy that makes dreams come true, and the Genoa International Boat Show is its focal point. Just like the new Eastern Waterfront, Italy’s largest urban regeneration site, the Show is the dream of a better city becoming a reality”.

62nd genoa boat showRecord-breaking numbers have also been achieved on the communication side, with 1,117 accredited journalists, 644 articles published, and the Boat Show TV, which broadcasted live streams, interviews, conferences, and news reports every day. Social media also registered a record, reaching no less than 1,766,868 people during the event.

These important numbers and novelties are a prelude to an amazing next edition, whose dates have already been set: the Genoa Boat Show 2023 is in fact scheduled from 21 to 26 September.

An event we cannot miss.

Monaco Smart and Sustainable Marina: an award for the marina of the future

//

Now at its second edition, the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous brings together 50 startups and 20 marinas & architects from 26 coutries.

From September 25-26, they will meet at the Yacht Club de Monaco to identify actions to address environmental challenges

Heading towards a sustainable marina

The Consensus Meeting STARTUPS-Monaco-Smart-Sustainable-Marinaselected the companies that will compete for the international Smart & Sustainable Marina Award.

From over 100 candidates, 50 start-ups and some 20 marinas and architecture firms from 26 countries were selected to be included in an electronic catalogue.

The candidates presented their projects to an international jury of marina operators, large companies and investors. A total of 173 individual interviews were held before the main event on 25 and 26 September.

On the first day from 3pm, participants will have the opportunity to present their projects in the exhibition area, such as the Corinthia Yacht Club, under construction in the heart of Porto Arabia Marina (Doha) and the Zhoushan Yacht Club, designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel in Hambi Zijiin Bay, Zhejiang Province, with the ambition of building a positive energy nautical destination with a low carbon footprint.

For this second edition, M3 (Monaco Marina Management), the Monaco-based consulting company specialized in the development, management and promotion of marinas & yacht clubs, has once again teamed up with Blumorpho, an expert in innovation for sustainable business, to organize this unique networking event bringing together 250 people representing key players in the sector.

Marinas at the heart of future yachting development

marinasThe international Smart & Sustainable Marina Award aims to promote innovation and green technology by bringing together the entire ecosystem to exchange and advance ideas on the design and management of the living spaces that marinas represent.

The initiative is supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Government’s Extended Monaco digital transition programme, Credit Suisse, the Al-Rushaid Group, Bombardier, MB92 and Xerjoff.

“The Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous is part of the Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting approach. We have a responsibility to encourage all initiatives that take us towards more eco-responsible yachting for our planet, for the oceans and for future generations. A marina is a key link in the yachting chain, a living space to accommodate yachts, their owners and crews; a future-oriented micro-city where there are strong interactions between the land and marine environments”, states Bernard d’Alessandri, President of Cluster Yachting Monaco and General Secretary of Yacht Club de Monaco,

The key issues for Monacothe conservation of the marine environment are clearly identified. Supporting implementation of sustainable solutions for a more virtuous yachting sector is essential to continue enjoying the sea while seeking answers to conservation challenges. Evaluating the positive impact of innovations while maintaining a holistic approach to the development of smart marinas is crucial, paving the way for the cities of the future”, says Olivier Wenden, Vice-President and CEO of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

In the last three years, a lot of work has been carried out, mainly thanks to Extended Monaco, to establish Monaco as an avant-garde Smart City. “The yachting industry is not only a vital economic force for Monaco but also a factor in its attractiveness. Developing this industry is a priority for the country, with digital technology as its main asset,” says Frédéric Genta, Chief Officer for Attractiveness and the Digital Transition.

International Smart & Sustainable Marina Awards 2022: the 7 finalists

International-Smart-Sustainable-Marina-Awards-2022From the 50 startups in the competition, the jury selected one finalist for each of the seven categories, namely:

CompPair Technologies (New Materials) for its revolutionary composite that repairs 400 times faster, more times and with better quality;

ECOncrete (Biodiversity) for its bio-enhancing concrete for marine construction that stores carbon and increases biodiversity;

Falco (Mobility and Services) for its digital device that optimizes service management and offers customers a connected experience;

GPA Seabots (Optimising Water), a specialist in marine robotics and unmanned surface vehicles with a focus on the analysis, conservation and restoration of marine environments;

Solar Cloth (Optimising Energy) for its custom-made flexible solar panels that can be easily moved and removed.

One winner will be selected from this short-list on Monday 26th September 2022.

This second edition revealed a large number of companies with great potential to provide marinas with solutions to help their sustainability programmes,” explains Géraldine A. Gustin, CEO of Blumorpho – The relevance and high level of innovation of the nominees was appreciated by all members of the jury. In total, 31 ‘coups de cœur’ mentions were awarded, which shows that this process goes beyond the awarding of a single prize. It opens the door to potential partnerships for the adoption of innovations. Discussions are already underway between many of the start-ups, companies and investors”.

New for the 2022 edition is the extension of the awards to marinas and architects as well.

Of the 20 reported architectsprojects, many present very innovative architectural philosophies with a sustainable coastal approach. Interesting concepts that could attract the attention of marinas for future eco-responsible developments or extensions.

We have the same vision and passion for the environment and sustainability. It is our leitmotiv and we are convinced that together we can plan a responsible future with virtuous and attractive marinas”, says José Marco Casellini, CEO of M3.

In the Marina category, the shortlist includes Habacoa in the Bahamas, Kos Marina and Flisvos, both in Greece.

In the Architects category are the Norwegians from Snøhetta, whose submerged building project fits perfectly into the marine environment, the Austrians from NBAX for their project to rehabilitate a former shipyard in the city centre of Sanya in China, and the Spanish architecture firm On A for its port development that includes a lake.

From today until 26 September, it will be the public vote that will decide the final winners in both categories.

Yachting lands in the metaverse. International premiere at the Genoa Boat Show

//

The boating industry lands in the metaverse and exploits its enormous potential, bridging the gap with new business methods. Thanks to the exclusive agreement signed between The International Yachting Media and Olimaint, boating companies and professionals will be able to use virtual technology within a dedicated space to communicate their news, welcome customers, and showcase the most innovative projects to boat owners, in a totally immersive way.

This great opportunity will be officially presented during the upcoming Genoa International Boat Show 2022: an important appointment, on 25 September at 1.00 pm, will see The International Yachting Media in the forefront at the Eberhard &Co Theatre of the Genoa Boat Show for a real world premiere. On this occasion, the exclusive space in the publisher’s metaverse will be inaugurated, bringing together all the group’s publications and making them available free of charge.

yachting-metaverse-genoa

The luca-dambrosio-metaverseevent will also be a decisive moment to discover the full potential of the metaverse in the boating sector and to overcome a genuine mistrust of a tool that will undoubtedly prove professionally attractive.

The International Yachting Media thus takes the helm of a digital revolution, becoming the exclusive worldwide distributor of the metaverse in yachting.

The company’s virtual space will be presented through the words of its founder and editor-in-chief Luca D’Ambrosio, accompanied by Sergio Cutolo, Owner of Hydro Tec, Umberto Felci, Founder of Felci Yacht Design, and Massimiliano Nicolini, Senior R&D Researcher at Olimaint.

The event is perfectly aligned with a progressive change in the way events and exhibitions are enjoyed, more inclined to exploit VRO technologies and the great opportunities offered by the metaverse.

The Düsseldorf boat show, for example, has chosen to follow the intuition of the Verband der Eventveranstalter Rheinland Westfalense Association, presenting the market of regular exhibitors and associated event organizers with a ‘digital twin’: professionals will thus be able to use both a physical workstation and a digitized twin workstation. All exhibition halls have been faithfully reproduced in real size, and spaces such as the central auditorium or completely independent meeting spaces have also been created within them to share experiences in an interconnected manner. Avatar digital hostesses will move around the pavilions, provide advice and distribute brochures.

dusseldorf-messe-metaverse

The real exhibition experience, therefore, can from now on be complemented by a digital exhibition methodology, capable of involving an ever-increasing number of visitors. It is within this scenario that The International Yachting Media wants to move, hosting activities and interactions in a single virtual location, exploiting augmented reality and implementing a new integrated communication channel.

The appointment is therefore for 25 September, to witness first-hand the landing of boating in the metaverse.

Bringing dreams to water, Groupe Beneteau presents its future projects at the Cannes Yachting Festival

///

Following the previous year success, Groupe Beneteau joined the 45th Cannes Yachting Festival, renewing its appointment with the On the Horizon event on September 5 to announce the corporate vision, the new ambitions and projects and the latest product innovations.

Opening the event, Gianguido Cirotti, Groupe Beneteau Boat Division CEO, announced the group’s new slogan, which condenses its visions and ambitions into a few words: ‘Bringing dreams to water’.

Groupe Beneteau is specialized in Groupe-Beneteau-sailing-monohullthe production of sailing and motor-powered boats from 5.5 to 24 metres that are distributed over four strategic segments: dayboating, real estate on the water, monohull and multihull. Their brands are Beneteau, Jeanneau, Prestige, Delphia, Four Winns, Wellcraft, Scarab and Glastron.

Erik Stromberg, Vice-President of Power & Motor Yacht Development announced that 15 new models have been launched in the dayboating segment, including JEANNEAU Cap Camarat 10.5 CC, JEANNEAU Merry Fisher 1295, JEANNEAU DB/43, FOUR WINNS TH36, WELLCRAFT 355 and PRESTIGE M48.

Nothing embodies real estate like a multihull and Prestige has decided to blaze a path into the world of catamarans – said Erik Stromberg – It is a natural step for a brand that has been focused on providing the best on board experience. From the luxury of space to the enhanced stability, the M48 perfectly completes the Prestige product offering. A true motor yacht, on a multihull platform.

Following the success of the X70, Prestige is also launching the new X60. The conference continued with Damien Jacob, Vice-President of Sailboat Development, presenting the new EXCESS 14 and LAGOON 51. In the monohull segment, the Jeanneau Yachts 55, the BENETEAU Oceanis 60 and, above all, the BENETEAU First 44, a historic line now celebrating its 45th anniversary, were presented.

Sustainable yachting in the Groupe Beneteau’s vision

Groupe Beneteau pays close attention to the sustainability of its projects. Revealing the different approaches Gianguido Girotti, Boat Division CEO, explained:

On the HorizonOn the product development side, we are currently focused on reducing the environmental impact in two key areas: composite materials and propulsion systems”.

For the launch of the First 44, a special team was formed to work together with French manufacturer Arkema to build a hull made exclusively of recycled resin. The same treatment will also be reserved for building two prototypes of the Mini 6.6 racing sailboat.

A further step was taken with regard to propulsion by collaborating with three companies: Vision Marine Technologies, Torqeedo and Volvo Penta.

We decided to change the way we produce our small composite parts and we introduced a new bio-sourced resin and natural fiber to replace the classic one. We also decided to look at the energy consumption at our plants. We have decided to collaborate with a local actor called Vendée Energie to install 4 hectares of photovoltaic shadehouse over all the parking lots at our production sites. – concluded Gianguido Girotti.

Groupe Beneteau: Digitalization

Last year Groupe Beneteau presented SEANAPPS. Today, 2,000 boats are equipped and sailing around the world, and by September 2023, every single boat leaving the plants worldwide will be also equipped with the app.  Moreover, it will be available also to every existing boat maintained in the Group’s dealers’ network.

At Groupe Beneteau, digitalization in not just a department to look good and speak to the new generation. Digitalization transpires to every single entity to align on one goal: offer a unique 360° online & offline experience to every single one of our customers” explained Clement Douet, Vice-President for Digital Business.

Bruno Thivoyon, Groupe Beneteau CEO, concluded the press conference coming back on the key messages and on the ambitious and rational product roadmap.

Marina di Varazze: a new Magazzù Center is about to open. Yachting Special Days are now back

/////

Marina-di-Varazze Yachting Special DaysThe European boating season officially opens with the Cannes, Genoa and Monte Carlo boat shows. With its privileged position among the various exhibition venues, the convenience and pleasantness of its facility, Marina di Varazze is the ideal location for nautical brands and shipyards that, between one boat show and another, wish to pamper their actual and potential customers.

The calendar of the ‘Yachting Special Days 2022‘ is very rich: dedicated sea trials, on-board visits, and presentations of new models will follow one another throughout the autumn and, new for this year, the opening of a Magazzù Center: an important addition to the rich array of brands present at Marina di Varazze.

The new Magazzù Center in Marina di Varazze

Dedicated to all the owners of the iconic Maxi Ribs, the Magazzù Center will be inaugurated during an exclusive event that will last an entire weekend, from 16 to 18 September.

The centre will have a significant presence within the port and a yard of no less than 2,000 square metres, dedicated to the storage and maintenance of the Magazzù Maxi-Ribs. This important initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration with Marco Fois’Y&S, a historical reality in the yachting sector:

Magazzù-Center-Varazze“This is a central activity not only from a commercial point of view, but also from a technical one,” explains Claudio Magazzù. “In fact, Y&S not only has an excellent showcase on the port of Varazze where we will be able to display and sell our inflatables, but also has a large yard where, starting in September, we will offer our customers a wide range of after-sales services.

From technical assistance to the installation of accessories and engines, through to transfers and warranty maintenance. Our company’s philosophy has always been to offer a comprehensive service to the customer, and not just to simply sell a boat.

That’s why we were interested in having a technical partner in Liguria, which is the natural outlet for the many boat owners in Lombardy as well as a strategic base for the Genoa and Cannes boat shows, especially for a company located in southern Italy like ours. In short, we are thrilled to have found a partner that will follow us from every point of view in our mission to always be at the side of Magazzù RIB owners,” concludes the owner.
