Pearl 72 world premiered at FLIBS

It’s been about a year since the design was unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2021, but now, on the other side of the world, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022, the Pearl 72 is a concrete reality: with a superb exterior design by Dixon Yacht Design and an interior design by Kelly Hoppen CBE, Pearl Yachts showed the exquisitely British style of its latest jewel to the public for the first time.

pearl 72 side viewExtremely spacious with its two ‘master’ cabins, one forward with a private entrance, typical of much larger yachts, and the second amidships, the new Pearl 72 has two further double en-suite cabins and crew accommodation, plus a garage of exceptional proportions with enough space for a William 345 tender (or similar) and a jet ski. Folding balconies at water level also create a beach club for those who like to spend time near the water, allowing owners to enjoy a splendid view even when moored in port.

Behind the innovation and superb seaworthiness that characterize Pearl Yachts are award-winning naval architect Bill Dixon, who worked on her aerodynamic lines, and world-renowned designer Kelly Hoppen CBE, who penned the interiors: a style that is constantly evolving, defined by a subtle fusion of clean lines and neutral tones, which has won him numerous prestigious awards. Pure British design, inside and out.

Lastly, the new Pearl 72 master cabinbrings another first on board: Kelly’s new ‘Indulgence’ interior design theme. The design intent of this yacht is to capture New York City urban life, combining the incredible mechanical characteristics that have been achieved with a range of materials including wood, stone and contrasting metal details that create enchanting reflections and luxurious tones that ideally blend her interior with the ocean.

I know I speak for each of us who has been involved in the Pearl 72 project when I say that it is an immensely satisfying moment to be relaxing under the Florida sun, surrounded by friends, with the finished product of all our efforts sparkling in front of us – said Pearl CEO Iain Smallridge The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show was the perfect setting for the premiere, and highlights the growing significance of our American market, where we now have a well-established sales network through our Partners Atlantic Yacht & Ship, the east coast dealer and Jeff Brown Yachts, the west coast dealer.”

Delights off the Docks of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

From Haute Couture to High Rolling:
Delights off the Docks of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show .

Internationally renowned for hosting the world’s largest in-water boat show for the last 63 years, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, enjoys a tradition as strong as the trade winds with the boating community. Thanks to 300 navigable miles of tropical inland canals – complete with gondolas from the New River tidal estuary gliding through the Intracoastal Waterways – the maritime metropolis has earned itself the “Venice of America” title.

However, aside fort-lauderdale-international-boat-show-2021from enticing aquatic vices offered along the city’s coastline from its imitations of Italy to having the option to anchor that precious Absolute Yachts or Ocean Alexander offshore… time spent on terra firma can be just as unforgettably fun and fulfilling.

For seafarers in town for Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) taking place from the 26-30 of October, whether you favor strolling the shops or rolling the dice, our two top choices sans water in the western region – Sawgrass Mills Outlets and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – are guaranteed to fill your closet and fatten your bank account… if you play your cards right!

Shop till You Drop at Sawgrass

Designed in the shape of an alligator and named after an Everglades plant – Sawgrass Mills Outlets located off West Sunrise Blvd is a fashionista’s shopping fantasy come true. Encompassing 2.4 million square feet of retail space housing 350-plus stores, the place is so immense it has two Michael Kors and Lacoste locations.

Sawgrass-PradaAnd while the premiere shopping center is divided into three sections (the main mall, the Oasis and the Colonnade) haute couture devotees should head to the Colonnade for the latest looks coming off the catwalks.

The upscale lifestyle area with visible Mediterranean flair boasts of 70 exclusive boutiques from Bally and BOSS to Valentino and Versace. Timepiece aficionados will also take pleasure in the possibility of adding a new watch to their personal collection from Breitling or TAG Heuer also found on the promenade.

But, it gets better! After walking for hours on end seeking out the latest trends, weekend valet parking makes placing those purchases back in the vehicle all the more easy, easing feet and leg strains, before returning to one of the 50 appetizing eateries to appease increasing hunger pains.

Open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., expect an international crowd schlepping around shopping carts that resemble airport luggage trolleys. Also expect to find that “something special” you’d been on the hunt for, seeing that, Sawgrass Mills is loaded with goods, gadgets and gear to please even the pickiest of shoppers.

Live Like a Rock Star at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

You can wake up in an upcycled 1965 Boeing 727 in Costa Rica and a sailing ship themed hotel in Dubai, but when in Fort Lauderdale – it’s high time to live like a lavish rock star at the first-ever guitar-shaped Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, under ownership by the Seminole Indian Tribe.

Referred to simply Fort-Lauderdale-INTERNATIONAL-BOAT-SHOW-Hard-Rock-overviewas “The Guitar Hotel,” soaring 450 feet (137 meters) high, the iconic symbol of the Hard Rock re-opened in October of 2019 following a $1.5 billion expansion spanning three years to bring life and light (actually many lights) to the locality.

Constructed with a total of 16,800 LEDs choreographed to change color and intensity to a series of songs – the lights serve as a screen and stage for a daily musical showcase happening on Friday and Saturday nights at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and Sunday through Thursday at 9 p.m. Six high-powered laser beams projected 20,000 feet into the sky mimic the strings of an imaginary guitar. Most visitors believe the masterpiece to be of generic design, but some rock-n-rollers relish in the fact that it’s based off a Gibson Les Paul electronic model replica.

Fort-Lauderdale-INTERNATIONAL-BOAT-SHOW-GUITAROnce done ogling the awesomeness of the gargantuan-sized beaming guitar from outdoors, it’s time to enter the establishment through the Oculus, the resort’s multi-sensorial epicenter mixing theater, technology and architecture together. The Oculus acts as a link to the varying hospitality, gaming and entertainment destinations for diversion and options to keep busy on the premises, as suggested below:

*The around the clock gaming casino consisting of 2,200 slot machines and more than 200 table games.

*The winding promenade of boutiques for guests not gung-ho on trying their luck or for the lucky ones looking to unload some of their winnings.

*Party like a rock star at your choice of venues from: cocktail, live music and sports bars, to the tropical poolside day club or cutting-edge upper level night club.

*Attend a show in the 7,000-seat theater hosting A-list entertainers from Billy Joel to Sting, to awards ceremonies and sports events.

*After playing, partying and taking in a performance, why not overnight in a unique private swim-up cabana reminiscent of a “Bora Bora-style experience” complete with butler service!

Extravagance can be found all around Fort Lauderdale – no matter your fancy, seek and you will find it from the shoreline to the suburbs before, during and after Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show !

Navetta 75 and 48 Coupé: two Italian premieres to be discovered at FLIBS 2022

Absolute Yachts will be exhibiting two unmissable premieres at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Absolute Yachts’ latest additions

First official presentation in the US for Absolute Yachts‘ new Generation 2023 models at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022, Florida. The Piacenza-based shipyard will be exhibiting four boats: the Navetta 75, 68 and 52 as representatives of the Navetta range and the 48 Coupé.

Navetta 75 – The Absolute Sphere, debuting in the States, is the flagship of the range and the perfect combination of stylistic and technological creativity. Navetta 68 – The Absolute Vision combines comfort and elegance, space and safety, innovation and personality, while Navetta 52 – The Absolute Appeal offers significantly greater liveability than other yachts of a similar size. 48 Coupé – The Absolute Horizon will also make her debut at FLIBS, characterized by a sporty look and high level of comfort on board.

These intriguing yachts will certainly attract large crowds, moreover right during one of the busiest boat shows in the world. But if you would like to secure the opportunity to go on board and admire Absolute Yachts’ new boats in preview and with due calm, you can write an email to:  A quick and easy way not to miss this unrepeatable opportunity.

Absolute Navetta 75

Absolute-navetta-75-side-viewNavetta 75 is the flagship of the Absolute fleet: the spherical shape was chosen to represent the quest for perfection and harmony that the shipyard has followed in designing this new craft. As in a sphere, in fact, Navetta 75 contains the best of all the Absolute products that preceded it and the most representative characteristics of the shipyard’s style: technological inventiveness and stylistic sophistication, in an absolute balance of excellence and completeness.

The 23-metre yacht created by Absolute Yachts features large windows, high ceilings, rooms designed on a single level and a full-beam forward master cabin with private access from the main saloon and en-suite bathroom. The boat features sliding doors and generous storage compartments.

The captain’s and crew quarters, designed aft, are versatile in space and use and can accommodate up to three berths, with en-suite facilities and private galley. The exterior spaces are optimized to provide the highest level of versatility and ease of movement on board. Thanks to the modular furnishings and the absence of fixed structural elements, the flybridge and cockpit areas can easily adapt to different needs, ensuring a truly unique and all-encompassing on-board experience.

Absolute 48 Coupé

The 48 Coupé is a Absolute-48-Coupé15-metre yacht with a sporty soul and a configuration focused on comfort, versatility and sustainability. Not surprisingly, the Coupé 48 produces energy thanks to the solar panels integrated in the roof, one of which is transparent and designed to allow pleasant natural lighting, like the air: to avoid operating the air conditioning and consuming additional energy, the large side windows that embrace the entire deck can be opened to cool the rooms, offering a spectacular perspective from inside the boat.

The glass windows of the Absolute Yachts Coupé 48 provide unparalleled scenery, including from the saloon and even from the helm station. The exterior furnishings can be combined in different configurations, adapting to the many needs on board. Below deck there is no lack of comfort thanks to three comfortable cabins for living the boat freely.

The event of the year

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show takes place from 26 to 30 October 2022 in Florida. It is the largest in-water boat show in the world. It takes four numbers (and not just a figure of speech) to justify this claim: $1.79 billion in economic impact, more than a hundred thousand expected participants, 1000 brands present, and more than 1300 boats on display.

For five days, the city of Florida will be at the centre of the boating world, because the industry’s most eagerly awaited event also includes shows, conventions, sea trials, water shows, culinary experiences and exclusive moments.

Gagliotta Lobster 35 conquering the USA

Italy will be a protagonist at the forthcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to be held in Florida between October 26 and 30 also thanks to the Naples-based Cantieri Gagliotta which will be playing a sort of ‘away game’, proposing its Lobster 35 to the American public.

Gagliotta-Lobster-35I call it that because it is well known that the Lobster is a boat that exudes the United States from all its mouths, and whose history is doubly connected with the lobster fishing that used to be, and still is, practised in Maine: it is no coincidence that the name Lobster is linked precisely to the fishing of the world’s most famous crustacean, which in the North of the United States dates back to the times of the Native Americans.

We are exhibiting Lobster 35 for the first time in the United States. – says Cantieri Gagliotta’s Sales Manager Claudio Gagliotta – We will play a game away from home, it is true, but with all the strength of our made in Italy”.

Gagliotta’s love for American-style boats began a long time ago: “We have been producing boats for 70 years” continues Claudio Gagliotta, “and we started out as racing boats, strictly offshore, but gradually we wanted to maintain the characteristics of ‘seagoing’ boats, and as times evolved, classic motorboats were becoming fewer year after year, so we had to find alternative boats that could convey our values and our passion. We currently have two lines, the Lobster, which is sweetly elegant, classic, and the Fisherman, which I like to describe as more sporty”

Gagliotta is the last yard Lobster-35 at sealeft in Italy to produce the Lobster, and this is one of the reasons why its fame is now known overseas to all enthusiasts of this boat type, which had its boom in the mid-19th century, precisely as a work boat, and then exploded as a recreational boat around the 1950s thanks to its technical features that made it safe and reliable, but at the same time graceful at sea.

This evolution led the boats to be more and more sought-after, especially in their interiors: from work boats they were transforming into recreational boats and this is where Cantieri Gagliotta found their place, combining the practical American style with all the quality of Made in Italy.

We have several friends and customers in the USA“, Claudio Gagliotta says – “Some come to visit us at the yard, like a couple who bought an old used Gagliotta here in Italy, very different from the current model, with an enclosed stern. They fell so in love with it that they completely refurbished it and then contacted us to show us their work before visiting us on site“.

Gagliotta USAIn short, if the past of Gagliotta and the Lobster is full of exciting tales of work, research and evolution, it’s only natural that the future brings with it great prospects, and I don’t use the word ‘great’ at random: “This season we’ll be launching the Lobster 53” concludes Cantieri Gagliotta’s Sales Manager, “like our Lobster 35, but practically twice as big in all. 53 feet, three cabins and two engines for up to 700 HP. A great novelty that we’ll tell you about step by step, along with other surprises that I can’t reveal yet”.

So, for now, all that remains is for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to enjoy the spectacle associated with this exciting show where, among so many titans of the boating world, you will find this all-Italian jewel that we are sure will attract many eyes with its unmistakable style.
