Description

Port de Solenzara is a small marina located southwest of the mouth of the Solenzara River. The harbor is protected by an L-shaped outer breakwater and a breakwater reef. Inside the harbor, there are floating docks with 450 berths for boats up to 30 meters in length with limited draft.

The ports offers its guests water and electricity supply, a gas station, and a supermarket.

A cell phone tower at the end of the Quai d’Arment and a 10-meter pole with a light help in locating the harbor. Approaching from the Gulf of Porto Vecchio to the south, you can make out the Gulf of San Ciprianu, the Gulf of Pinarellu, and other small bays along the coast. Prominent landmarks include the tower on Ile et Pointe de Fautéa and the Anse de Favone, surrounded by houses. As you approach, you can also see the buildings behind the harbor. Approaching from the north, prominent landmarks include the Alistro lighthouse perched on a small hill, a tower located at the mouth of the Tavignano River, and the Solenzara military air base. Pass at least 500 meters from the coast near the military base to avoid the shallow, rocky waters. Several white buoys and a lighted cardinal buoy mark the area closed to recreational boating near the oil pipeline terminal, located about 700 meters offshore from Solenzara.

To enter the harbor, head toward the end of the East Pier and then veer to the right into the entrance channel, watching out for isolated rocks midway between the two East Piers, marked by red buoys. Entry is difficult in strong southeasterly winds. It is recommended to enter the harbor during daylight hours. To moor, approach the South Basin and await instructions from the Harbor Master’s Office.

The village of Solenzara has long beaches of very fine sand stretching across its entire territory from north to south. Of particular note is the he beach of Canella located in a cove, and the beach of Favona which marks the border of the municipality in addition to the beaches of Scaffa Rossa, Solaro, Tarco and Fautea.

The inland area, characterized by valleys and hills, is full of hiking trails and boasts a wide variety of flora and fauna.
