The privately managed Port of Lavagna is located 1 km southeast of Chiavari and consists of a 1-km outer breakwater and an inner breakwater. Situated in the center of the Gulf of Tigullio, in the beautiful eastern Liguria region, the facility can accommodate 1,509 boats ranging in size from 8 to 51 meters. Services such as electricity and water are already included in the rates as a flat fee. The facility has 1,400 berths, 140 of which are for transit vessels, and anchoring and exceeding a speed of 3 knots are prohibited throughout the port.
The town of Lavagna, located behind the port and featuring a historic medieval settlement, stretches across the left-bank floodplain of the Entella River (Chiavari lies on the right bank), bounded upstream by a series of hills covered primarily with olive groves. The patron saint’s feast day of Saint Stephen takes place on the first Sunday in August, while other recurring events include the Festival of Saint Leonard in Cavi in March, the Festival of Saint Stephen in August, the Walnut Festival in September, and the Fair of Saint Simon in October.
The local accommodations offer a wide range of services, and the tourism industry—centered around the numerous hotels, vacation rentals, shops, bars, clubs, and restaurants catering to every taste and preference—remains Lavagna’s main economic resource. The refined culinary specialties allow visitors to enjoy not only seafood dishes but also trenette al pesto, torta pasqualina, and mushrooms. Along the waterfront, there are numerous bars, restaurants, shops, bookstores, boutiques, ship chandlers, marine furnishings stores, and brokerage offices.
Built in the 1970s, the porthas found new stimuli thanks to the current management, which has relaunched the port of call with a series of interventions for the completion of the structure, from its maintenance and the improvement of the technical and safety features of the landing, as well as with the revitalization of the port in a city key, seeking greater integration with the Blackboard of residents and regular tourists. Within the port area, there are all the services that compete with a large, modern marina. These services include a fueling station, as well as technical, electrical, and mechanical-hydraulic support provided by the major companies operating in the international nautical sector, which have their shipyards in the area, making it possible to carry out specialized work locally.
Here are some of the services offered by the facility: gasoline, diesel and mixture station at the dock, water and electricity outlets, dock lighting, slipway, 7 mobile cranes, travel lift, outdoor/covered storage, engine repair, electrical and electronic repairs, wood, fiberglass and steel hull repair, sail repair, mooring, divers, fire fighting service, garbage pickup, metero service and toilet facilities.
