The area around San Felice al Circeo is a place symbolic of human history, steeped in the myth of Odysseus’s landing; drawn there by the sorceress Circe, he spent a long time under the spell of the love potion. This geographical area has been inhabited since ancient times, as evidenced by the remains of prehistoric humans that have been discovered there.

This area offers a beautiful overview of the surrounding landscape, with the promontory—the only elevated feature in the Pontine Plain—standing out. From its summit, one can enjoy a panoramic view that encompasses the plain, the mountains, the sea, and the Pontine Islands. At the foot of and around the mountain lies the lush greenery of the Circeo National Park.

The headland is characterized by a rocky coastline that gives way on the southeastern side to a beach that stretches all the way to Terracina. Those who enjoy boating and open-sea vacations can use the marina, which also offers a high-speed ferry service to the Pontine Islands during the summer.

The well-equipped and welcoming marina of San Felice Circeo offers a stunning view that can be admired while sitting in one of the cafes, bars, and restaurants located at the foot of the hill facing the sea. It consists of a 580-meter-long breakwater pier and a 215-meter-long inner pier, both equipped with docks and partially outfitted for recreational boat mooring. On the western side, there is a series of piers—both fixed and floating—managed by Cooperativa Circeo I, which provides mooring for 380 recreational boats up to 20 meters in length.

In 2014, at the end of the verification of the legality of the state concessions issued to the Circeo I Cooperative, conditions emerged to activate the ex officio cancellation of the same concessions, which were issued in violation of the European Parliament directive on the navigation code.

If visitors to this magical area prefer the beach, they will be spoiled for choice among the thirty-five bathing establishments on the sand on which to lie or sit in a deck chair under an umbrella.

For diving enthusiasts, you can descend to a depth of 18 meters to admire the bronze statue of Christ of Circeo, which has stood on the seabed of the Pontine Sea since April 1992. Or the statue of the Face of Christ, submerged in 2010 in front of the Grotta delle Capre. The small marina also offers rentals of small boats, which you can use to sail along the promontory, passing the Grotta del Presepe and the Grotta del Calice, and just a few meters away, the Grotta Azzurra, which can only be entered when the sea is calm.
