Description

Just a stone’s throw from the Maremma Natural Park lies the port of Talamone. The town of the same name, located on the southernmost edge of the Uccellina hills in the municipality of Orbetello, is a very small town, yet one that is ancient and steeped in history. The port’s location—the only natural access to the sea for the nearby necropolises situated inland within the municipalities of Orbetello and Magliano—soon made it an important port of call for the Etruscans.

During the Roman era, this dock came to play a strategic role for the numerous settlements scattered throughout the surrounding area. It was not until the Middle Ages that the port was fortified to reduce the risk of raids and, if necessary, to defend it.

But the historical episode that gave celebrity to the port of Talamone is surely the landing of Giuseppe Garibaldi who awaited the arrival of the large number of participants who would take part with him in the Expedition of the Thousand in March 1860.

During the last century, due to the two world wars, the port experienced periods of decline, and only since the postwar period have improvement and expansion works been undertaken that have turned it into a modern and well-equipped tourist port that can be admired today.

This port of call in Toscama lies to the west of the gulf of the same name, in the immediate vicinity of both today’s town and the promontory on which the original historic center is located

The marina is contained to the north by a 60 m long pier, to the south by a small berth of only 40 m from which also comes to life a 180 m long breakwater pier equipped with a signal beacon to which should be added another beacon near the port area to signal the southern prominence of the Talamone promontory

Including between the pier and the small landing were created 7 floating docks to which 5 more docks built north of the harbor and the pier should be added

It is made up of several moorings placed along a series of piers and docks that allow berthing for 40 boats to which is added an agency that also organizes fishing-tourism mini-cruises with its boats.

The seabed, mainly sandy and muddy, ranges from 2 meters deep in the docks to 5 meters deep in the basin.

The port area offers basic services such as a fuel station, slipway, travel lift, slipway, and hull service.

It shook local public opinion when news broke in late 2014 that the port of Talamone was at risk of closure due to a lack of sufficient depth to ensure safe navigation for recreational boats.

According to an assessment by the local maritime district office, the extremely shallow seabed needed to be dredged to avoid having to close the northern section of the port to navigation, which would prevent the mooring of several hundred berths of various sizes—representing about 70% of the total within the port. The economic and social repercussions for the entire area would be inevitable, and the entire tourism industry in the lower Maremma would also suffer serious and negative consequences.

Do you need to sell your boat? You are in the right place! yachtdigest.com is in fact the largest online portal on recreational boating and in this section you will be able to write your ad for free if you want to sell your boat. Adding a new sales message is very simple and intuitive as is finding a boat you are interested in buying, but to make your listing even more appealing, we want to give you some general but important pointers that you can follow if you wish.

First of all, try to personalize your ad, describing the history of the boat and perhaps the reason why you are selling it, this way you will gain more trust from the reader.

You can call it “half-new” if it is almost new, or “used” by specifying whether or not it is in good condition. It indicates the condition of the engines, the year of registration, how many owners it has had-most importantly, it indicates whether the boat has been owned by a single owner: it increases interest to those reading the ad.

The goodness of your craft must shine through in your message, because before you can convince someone, you yourself must be convinced that the product is good.

It is important that no spelling errors are made in the advertisement, so reread the message well before putting it online. The language then must be clear and simple, understandable to all.

It serves to attract interest and induce the reader to continue reading; it is the most important part and should summarize in one line the whole message we want to give. Unfortunately, you don’t have much chance to stand out much except with something really original to attract attention. So focus on truly original details of the boat, its real qualities: in the yachtdigest.com portal this brief summary will appear by hovering over the picture of the boat with the mouse.

It is important to clearly include the general record of the vessel. Always enter: shipyard, model, length, width, draft, engines, number of cabins, year of construction, price.

In the boat sheet accurately enter all boat details, standard and extra equipment. It is useful to communicate many details and details for those who are really interested and will continue reading beyond the first few lines.

Suggest to the reader who wants to buy the best features of your craft, and do not indicate-unless it is necessary to inform the buyer in advance-information that might negatively influence the reader.

Always indicate the price. Unless you absolutely do not want to deal, we recommend adding the words “price negotiable” which gives an incentive for the buyer to contact you.
