For many years the Oceanis 390 was one of the most widely used boats by charter companies. Comfortable, versatile, at ease in both light breezes and when the wind strengthens, this design by French architect Philippe Briand for the Bénéteau shipyard was produced in over 500 examplesfrom 1986 to 1994.
This exemplary hull No. 314 is the “charter” version equipped with three comfortable cabins, dinette convertible to additional bed, two bathrooms with electric toilet and shower, chart table and well-equipped corner galley with large cockpit refrigerator. Due to the generosity of the space below deck this boat is still highly sought after in the used market.
Despite her age, overall condition is good. Although few, obvious signs of ageing on gelcoat on deck and in cockpit. No apparent delamination was found on deck. The teak inserts in the cockpit are in sufficient condition as is the one present in the stern platform.
Sail gear is in sufficient condition, especially the mainsail which is from 2015. There are No. 2 Lewmar 46″ winches for genoa sheets No. 2 30″ winches, one of which is self-tailing only. Batten, stanchions and pultpits in good order. Present a few cracks on the plexiglass of the large uncovered window that needs maintenance and/or replacement and sealing with sikaflex. rigging is original, recently inspected but to be considered for refit. Heaths and turnbuckles apparently in good order. No data on condition at masthead.
The hull needs polishing especially the transom. Work needed to be done at the first drydocking: bulb dismasting and redoing the studs that are worn out by rust (they are iron).
The interior woods are in very good condition despite her age, with few signs of wear, thanks to the excellent thicknesses and from the high quality of materials used at the time by the Bénéteau shipyard. The only flaw, as with all boats of this era, are the sky/ecopelle ceilings, chenelle in the aft cabins, bathrooms and dinette (sideways) have come unglued and no longer adhered to the structure. They should be professionally peeled off and re-glued, or replaced with cork sheets as an excellent insulation material.
Heights measured with digital instrument: in dinette: 1.93 m -cabins: 1.82 m -bathrooms: 1.80 m.
