Sacs Tecnorib sweeps the board at Monaco Yacht Show


For the third year running Sacs Tecnorib, the brand that has set new trends in the industry by inaugurating the Maxi Rib era, was the protagonist of the ‘chase boats’ segment at the Monaco Yacht Show, a unique opportunity to showcase a range that seems to fit the needs of this sector perfectly.

Montecarlo is certainly the ideal place to meet owners, gather important information also for future developments and live the experience to the full, following, among other things, a concept that Sacs knows well and that has a name all its own: the Sacs Experience.

Sacs Experience goes hand in hand with the market. – continues Andrea Loro – While 10 years ago customers were looking for a specific product, today we sell an experience instead.

Sales are very cross-sectional, the customer is looking for a product in which he or she recognizes himself or herself: beautiful, stylish, and guaranteeing a complete on-board experience with ample sunbathing spaces combined with shaded relaxation areas where he or she can listen to music, have a cool drink, and spend quality time with loved ones and friends. The brand, of course, is also important, with its reputation and product type, but in the end it is always the aesthetic taste that drives.

sacs-rebel-40So the fact that we have launched this Rebel line, which is a sort of middle ground between our core business, i.e. the maxi tender/maxi RIB of which we are world leaders, and a more traditional boat, has brought many customers closer to the space and comfort of a luxury boat, but with an ‘aggressive RIB’ aspect.

This has decreed the success of the Rebel range, which was born in 2017 and already boasts three models, with the fourth on the way.

Today experience is sold as I said. To make a comparison it’s like buying a dress that you like, you look for something that looks good; well, in the case of yachting, this means finding what best suits your individual desires and expectations”.

Today Sacs Tecnorib joins the Monaco Yacht Show as a well-established company, with the mentality of an industry leader and a strength that enables it to deliver high-end Maxi Ribs that are appreciated the world over. But the way up to here has been a long one, a path made up of experiences that blend together, of daily work and of skilled workers who take their talents to the extreme in these models.

The path to get here has been long. – reiterates the Sales Director of Sacs Tecnorib – Sacs was founded in 1989, then acquired in 2004 by the Laserline group, and from there, thanks also to a series of collaborations with important brands in the automotive sector, such as Abarth, Ferrari and Jaguar, we have always tried to position the brand a little outside the traditional, exploring other worlds, always linked to luxury”.


All this has meant that the expectation created by the brand has also allowed us to approach very high-level customers with a product that meets their expectations. More and more customers are coming in with their own idea of style and colour, to the extreme of bespoke RAL, just as more and more owners want the tender to match the colour of their superyacht, to blend in with its style”.

I only had one question left to ask Andrea Loro, a much more personal one, but one whose answer I believe encapsulates much of the enthusiasm that oozes from his expression: ‘What does working at Sacs Tecnorib and being here in Monaco mean to you?’

On test. FIM 470 Regina: class, power and lots of light


I had been waiting a long time for testing the FIM 470 Regina, the latest addition to the magnificent collection of FIM – Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi, and finally the day has come. I had already assimilated her beauty and innovations on paper, but when I saw her docked at the Marina di Varazze, I immediately realized that what I knew was just the tip of the iceberg.
Indeed, you can only perceive certain things by getting on board, exploring the spaces, putting your hands on the control console and facing the sea.  Every corner of this open sports yacht designed by
Paolo Ferragni is thought out in a modular manner. However, it is not enough to say that it is possible to modify the exterior and interior spaces as required, because this jewel is built to adapt to all needs, with the ultimate aim of providing the maximum living experience and leaving guests completely immersed in an elegant and refined atmosphere, where everything is intended to seduce and amaze.

And so it did. This yacht has completely enchanted me, and now I will tell you why.

The FIM 470 Regina in detail

I want to tell you about her as she appeared before my eyes. At 15.10 metres long and with a beam of 4.40 metres, her spaces are absolutely enviable. The stern cockpit is mechanized, raising and lowering as required: in one mode it is perfect for facilitating the launching or hauling of a tender or jet ski, revealing two retractable steps. But in an instant it lifts up to show its full extent, creating a single spacious central area that ensures maximum liveability.

Spaces are designed to be exploited to the full. The boat is designed to make the most of open air spaces, thanks to the moving stern and bow systems. The forward sundeck translates sideways to create a true beach area, a layout that the designers have dubbed “Bow Life”: by dividing the sun deck in half, a reinforced glass panel can be walked on, providing stunning light for one of the two owner’s cabins, a table can be added and turned into a dining area, and it can even be filled with water to create a small swimming pool… wonderful.

The aft cockpit can also be extended by means of a mechanism that divides the sundeck. This creates a spacious central area that is perfect for enjoying a relaxing day at sea, diving and lounging on the elegantly finished couches.

The helm station is spacious, modern, dominated by the black colour. I can’t wait to get my hands on the steering wheel, which is a piece of craftsmanship made especially for this boat, but I have to wait a little longer for that, first I want to get below deck.

fim-470-regina top viewTo call it bright is an understatement. Natural light pervades the two splendid owner’s cabins where large windows allow the sun’s rays to penetrate fully, illuminating the spaces and leaving a rarely found view of the sea.

The two owner’s cabins are to two junior suites filled with details of pure elegance, many of them designed by Liu Jo. In the main owner’s cabin, the double bed can be split in two and a reinforced glass on the bow opens up above your head, letting in plenty of natural light that joins that of the large side windows. We are talking about a four-metre room, so spacious that it feels like being in a 60-footer.

Both cabins have a ensuite head with shower, sanitary ware and elegant Nobili enamelled steel fittings. Every corner conceals a drawer, a hideaway wardrobe, and the look is never dull: the headboards of the beds are in hand-stitched Primo Fiore leather, the mattresses are of superlative quality and comfort, the lighting is all indirect LED, and each of the two rooms has its own climate control, as are the audio and video devices. All this is Full Domotics, meaning that everything is controllable from an app (but also with a classic interface): the icing on the cake of an open yacht that has definitely raised the bar.

Sea Trial

If the look has literally seduced me, resting my hands on the steering wheel sends a shiver down my spine. It is obvious that having something so exclusive in your hands leads you to treat it with the utmost attention, but I quickly overcome this reverential fear because I feel very comfortable: it is time to start the test of the FIM 470 Regina.

The sea conditions are quite tricky, with waves of about a metre and a half and a lot of wind: there are 12 of us on board including me. As we leave the marina and get familiar with the instruments, I look up and realize that there are six of us on the bridge, four seated and two standing.

We attack the sea, it’s really rough, but the hull is perfectly designed, it slices the wave in half decisively, limiting the inevitable bounce by quite a bit, and it does it constantly, one wave after another, so much so that I’m tempted to keep putting the throttles down.

The boat gets up awningon plane at about 12 knots and from there I speed up to cruising speed: the engine revs up to 2700, the speed is 26 knots and we are consuming about 155 l/h.

The boat is revealing all its sportiness. The two Volvo Penta IPS 800 engines with 600 hp each are giving me a tremendous boost, the hull does the rest. I turn slightly to port, take in the sea, and turn for a moment to see how the others on board with me are: from their faces they are really enjoying it, and so I decide that we can give ourselves one last thrill.

I turn sharply to starboard and put the throttles down a bit more, the Fim 470 Regina is touching 30 knots and the waves seem even higher than before: it’s almost a challenge, a fun challenge that gives everyone a thrill. Despite the wind and a few drops of rain, we are all amazed: no creaking, no vibration, no hesitation. What a beautiful boat!

Once ashore, I still have all the emotions of this dizzying hour at sea on me. I linger a moment longer to look at her, she is beautiful there is little to say. But that’s not all; she’s elegant and sporty at the same time, she’s gritty but attractive, she’s big, spacious without compromising her agility.

I realize that I have had a rare experience, from the front row moreover, and I think that next summer I would like to be nowhere else but on board this wonderful yacht.

Pearl 72 world premiered at FLIBS


It’s been about a year since the design was unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2021, but now, on the other side of the world, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2022, the Pearl 72 is a concrete reality: with a superb exterior design by Dixon Yacht Design and an interior design by Kelly Hoppen CBE, Pearl Yachts showed the exquisitely British style of its latest jewel to the public for the first time.

Folding balconies at water level also create a beach club for those who like to spend time near the water, allowing owners to enjoy a splendid view even when moored in port.

TecnoRib is once again a BOB finalist with the Pirelli 50


At the top of the rankings, and for the third time, of the prestigious Best Of Boats Award is Tecnorib, this time competing with the Pirelli 50. The Tecnorib flagship, which recently became Sacs Tecnorib, licensee of the Pirelli and P. brands for inflatable boats, won a place among the finalists for the Best For Fun category.

The most coveted award of the leading nautical players has only twice been given to maxi-ribs and both times it was for Tecnorib models from the Walkarounds range.

Once again the Tecnorib-PIRELLI-50jury has chosen a boat with extremely high-quality design, habitability and performance features. In fact, with a length of 15 metres and a top speed of 50 knots, the Pirelli 50 confirms everyone’s expectations and even exceeds them. Tecnorib is synonymous with excellent performance and advanced technology in the nautical world, but with the Pirelli 50, there is more. Rio Yachts Inagua S: exclusive sea trial at the Genoa Boat Show


Rio Yachts, all-Italian nautical excellence since 1961, enters the world of RIBs with the brand-new Inagua S, the first inflatable ever built by the Italian boatyard.

Entry Level of the Inagua range, the Rio Yachts Inagua S successfully combines all the sportiness of an inflatable with the elegance of details and finishes that distinguishes the Open family.

Inaugua SAt sea it is incredibly stable and fast. The thrill of tacking to port or starboard is priceless because the high, diamond-shaped helm station shows a truly thrilling view of the sea caressing the tubulars.

The power is not lacking, there is room for two 300 hp outboards, like the Mercurys that now drive this boat, designed by Marino Alfani, to tame the waves that rise up in the bow. Chroming, premiere design, ample space and strong emotions complete the circle.

Inagua S is like a classic suit worn with a pair of tennis shoes, and now I’ll tell you why.


It had been unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 and I knew it would also arrive at the Genoa Boat Show, so once the countdown was over I was very happy that the day had come: I was curious to know what Rio Yatchs’ first Maxi Rib would look like live, and finally the day had come.

11 m by 3.70 m. I like such big boats because everything is comfortable: the walkaround runs throughout the boat like a gangway and moving up to the beautiful diamond-shaped bridge is very easy. The pilot seat is raised, you have the perception of being really high up and you are enveloped by this splendid, ultra-modern black T-Top, in line with the helm station that houses an eye-catching control console.

Getting out of the harbour Rio Yachts Inagua S underwayquickly, the boat responds promptly to tight manoeuvres. The sea is rough, there are waves of about a metre and a half, the wind is picking up and I think it’s the ideal situation to test a Rib like this: wide, glued on its Marino Alfani-designed hull.

At 2,500 rpm, I exceed 20 knots, the boat is planing. Before starting with the speed and consumption tests I want to get used to it and so I start attacking the waves firmly, pushing down on the throttle, expecting to feel the fallout in the wave hollow, but… nothing. As if the waves weren’t even there.

Then it’s a succession of port and starboard turns and I notice the perspective which, I admit, has really seduced me. As I said, the helm station is raised as is the seat, the feet are on the footrest, and I enjoy the spectacle from above. The sea caressing the tubulars, the reflection of the sun on the water, the white of the Rib: the more you drive it, the more you’ll keep on driving it.

consoleWith this sea at 30 knots on the 4000 rpm we travel deliciously pleasantly and consumption is under control, 40 l/h. So off I go, lowering the throttle even more, 4,500, 5,000… at 5,500 rpm I’m at 43 knots and I’m happy as a child.

But the sea is getting rougher and rougher, the sky black and we decide to go back. That was my top speed, but it comfortably reaches 50 knots.

I don’t have a drop of water on me, those on the boat with me are chatting amiably on the comfortable sofas behind me, and there is an unconscious smile on my face.


Aesthetically it is refined, elegant: I can see it arriving with a celebrity on board at a Cannes or Venice Premiere.

side viewThe spaces are immediately reminiscent of an open yacht, with a large walkaround that emphasizes that convivial atmosphere I expect from a Rib. The rear decks, despite the fact that the stern is built to accommodate two outboards, are spacious and well designed. The white striped embroidery is a theme that continues throughout the cockpit.

Some features immediately catch the eye. The tubulars that wrap around the entire hull, for example, instead of closing in the classic semi-circle shape are cut: a feature that will also be replicated on all other Rio Yachts inflatable boats and that will make it a trademark.

Then the T-Top. Made of crystal, black in colour, it gives a touch of elegance to this boat, like wearing the right accessory that enhances the whole look, but still leaves wide viewing angles all around and covers from the sun the dashboard, which has a splendid diamond shape, also made of black crystal, hiding a toilet on the front. Not only beauty but also a remarkable effectiveness both in terms of protection, as I said at the end of the test I didn’t even have a drop of water on me, but also in terms of performance, since its inclination favours a more aerodynamic passage of air.

Last but not least, space. Almost four metres of width can be felt in the spacious seating, in the large bow and stern sundecks where passengers lie comfortably, in the situations when the dinghy is used for a lunch at anchor. Of course, nothing is missing: a kitchen with a cutting board (which can accommodate a cooker), a sink, a foldaway table, seven large compartments and a fridge where you can always keep a bottle of Champagne chilled to share with our lucky guests.

This Rib is the perfect crasis of two worlds, that of the dinghy and that of the boat, taking the best from both. Rio Yachts Inagua S has been presented to the world, and I leave with the knowledge that, from the looks of it, we are looking at a line destined to last and to surprise us with many other novelties.

Cayman 45.0 Cruiser, the new Ranieri International flagship will be premiered in Genoa


Ranieri Internatioal, a major Soverato-based shipyard, has recently launched the brand-new Cayman 45.0 Cruiser, the largest yacht ever built by Ranieri that takes the title of flagship. Following the launch, technical tests and calibrations were carried out, in time for the official presentation that will take place at the upcoming Genoa International Boat Show, from September 22-27, at the shipyard’s booth in Hall B. Immediately after the show, the Cayman 45.0 Cruiser will be transferred to the Marina di Varazze, where exclusive press trials will be held on 1 October, where we will have the pleasure of seeing the new Maxi Rib first-hand.

Powered by three Cayman-45.0-Cruiser-underwayhigh-performance Mercury 450Rs, the Cayman 45.0 Cruiser couldn’t fail to pass all the acceleration, speed and handling tests, also thanks to the Joystick and Active Trim system. The Simrad domotics system and Hertz stereo system have been installed on board, contributing to the on-board comfort of the boat, which thus manages to put the driver and guests at ease despite its power, being lightweight, agile and, above all, safe.

The Cayman 45.0 Cruiser features a spacious and functional deck: it has a large sundeck for two people and, underneath it, there is space to stow a tender and various water toys, accessible via an electric opening system. In the dinette, a double electric table allows the living area to be transformed as required. The cabin, which is also large, can accommodate four people and is divided into two separate areas with a toilet and shower compartment. In particular, this model comes with a large hard top and, if the shade provided is not enough, an awning can be mounted on carbon poles.

Marina di Varazze: a new Magazzù Center is about to open. Yachting Special Days are now back


Marina-di-Varazze Yachting Special DaysThe European boating season officially opens with the Cannes, Genoa and Monte Carlo boat shows. With its privileged position among the various exhibition venues, the convenience and pleasantness of its facility, Marina di Varazze is the ideal location for nautical brands and shipyards that, between one boat show and another, wish to pamper their actual and potential customers.

The calendar of the ‘Yachting Special Days 2022‘ is very rich: dedicated sea trials, on-board visits, and presentations of new models will follow one another throughout the autumn and, new for this year, the opening of a Magazzù Center: an important addition to the rich array of brands present at Marina di Varazze.

Dedicated to all the owners of the iconic Maxi Ribs, the Magazzù Center will be inaugurated during an exclusive event that will last an entire weekend, from 16 to 18 September.

The centre will have a significant presence within the port and a yard of no less than 2,000 square metres, dedicated to the storage and maintenance of the Magazzù Maxi-Ribs. This important initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration with Marco Fois’Y&S, a historical reality in the yachting sector:

Long weekend with sea trials organised by Fiart in cooperation with Marinewizard for the presentation of the Seawalker 43/39/35 models.

15-19 September | Cranchi yachts and Bellini Nautica

A real off-show for Bellini Nautica, which is at its second edition in Marina di Varazze. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the weekend some of the most popular Cranchi Yachts models will be on display, including the brand-new Sessantasette 67 ft.

23-25 September | Scanner Days

September closes with Scanner Days, coinciding with the Genoa Boat Show, which will present the new 2022-202 models: Scanner Envy 1200 inboard; Scanner Envy 1400 inboard; Scanner 650 L outboard. The Envy models will be available for sea trials and onboard visits. The boats will be available until 30 September for further trials by appointment.

Scanner Marine at Cannes 2022 with 3 Maxi Ribs


Scanner Marine confirms its presence again this year at the Cannes Yachting Festival, which starts today and will conclude on Sunday 11 September. Scanner Marine will be at booth 073 in the Vieux Port.

This year the shipyard will be exhibiting three models at Cannes: Envy 1400 Inboard, Envy 1100 TT Inboard and Envy 1200 HT Inboard, all penned by Montemitro Design.

  • The latest addition to the range, Envy 1400 is a 14×4-metre motorboat that has made a name for itself with the extensive customization possibilities that characterize the entire Scanner line. The Envy 1400 is a Maxi-Rib with well-balanced proportions and a sporty look, offering everything on board for excellent liveability and generous volume.

  • The Envy 1100 is a motorboat with very well-proportioned spaces: on board the impression of being on an 11-metre is not at all, as the space is very generous, with a helm station offering a very wide view with no shadow zones. We tested this boat and compared the inboard and outboard versions.
  • Last but not least, Envy 1200 is a 12-metre-long maxi-rib with a sporty and elegant soul, which is between the 1100 and the 1400. It is a pure open Rib, which, originally designed as a day-boat or superyacht tender, is also suitable as a day-cruiser for short cruises.

Scanner Marine has always been synonymous with quality and attention to detail, carefully following the needs of customers who can find the possibility to fully customize their rib through the know-how that the shipyard has acquired over many years of experience. In fact, thanks to the company’s ability and willingness to keep all workmanship in-house, all Scanner Marine models can be customixed and the project is followed in-house throughout.

After the Cannes Yachting Festival, anyone wishing to test the models on display can take advantage of an event that the company is organizing again this year at its premises in Marina di Varazze from September 23 to 25, entitled “Scanner Days”. The event will give the opportunity to learn more about all the aspects and characteristics of these jewels of the sea.

Cannes Yachting Festival 2022: the best 12 premieres on display


Starting tomorrow, the doors of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022, Europe’s largest in-water show that has been inaugurating the boating season for 45 years, will be opening. Numerous shipyards will display their boats along the Croisette and just as many will unveil their world premieres in Cannes. In particular, during this edition of the Cannes Yachting festival, 140 world premieres will be unveiled, representing over 20% of the boats on display.

Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 Pirelli 50At the Quai Max Laubeuf there will be Jenneau, on the quay to the left of the entrance, with its Merry Fisher 1295 Fly, a 40-footer with outboard propulsion. Designed for family cruising, it once again establishes the yard as a leader in this market segment. Further on, Sirena Yacht will show the new 78, an intermediate model in the Sirena Yacht range with a customizable layout. It is a monohull suitable both as a recreational boat and for long-distance cruises.

In the Super Yacht Extension area, Baglietto will be presenting the 10236, an aluminium 41.70 m superyacht designed by Francesco Paszkowski. Thanks to its displacement platform, it will be able to reach a top speed of 28 knots and with a beam of 8.70 metres, with a capacity of a dozen guests aboard. De Antonio Yachts will also present a new model, the D50 Coupe, an open cruiser that improves the comfort and safety features of the range by incorporating a superstructure around the helm station. Van Der Valk will be exhibiting Lady Lene, a 34-metre explorer that won a jury award at the World Superyacht Awards 2022. Designed and built with a fast-displacement hull, she offers high performance with low fuel consumption.

Lekker Boats will be at Quai Saint-Pierre with its Lekker 44, an outboard powerboat capable of reaching a maximum speed of over 50 knots. At the Esplanade Pantiero there will be Sacs TecnoRib exhibiting the Pirelli 50, the flagship of the walkaround line designed in collaboration with the Mannerfelt Design studio as a versatile RIB intended for everyday use as a tender for superyachts or for medium-range cruises.

At Jetée, Ice-70-rsSan Lorenzo will present the new Sp110. This is the first superyacht in the open line, equipped with water jet propulsion and solar panels. Moving on to the sailing area, Ice Yacht, will be exhibiting its ICE 70rs, a highly customisable yacht that combines performance and elegance. Nawtor’s Swan, on the other hand, will bring the 55, a legacy of the 1970s model that has inspired designers such as Sparkman & Stephens. Last but not least, Fountain Pajot Sailing will unveil the Aura 51 catamaran, capable of producing 2000 watts of renewable energy thanks to solar panels distributed on the surface.
